Signing in
How do I sign in?
Honk has no passwords. Enter your email address at honk-me.app or in the iPhone app and choose Email me a code. We send you a 6-digit code: type or paste it, and you’re in.
- On iPhone, Honk connects to honk-me.app by default: tap Continue, then enter your email address.
- iOS can offer the code from Mail right above the keyboard.
- Already signed in on the web? You can pair your iPhone instead (see “iPhone and Apple Watch”).
How long does a code work?
For 10 minutes, and only once. Asking for a new code cancels the previous one, and you can ask again after 30 seconds. After 5 wrong tries a code stops working; ask for a new one.
The code didn’t arrive
- Wait a minute and check your spam or junk folder. The email comes from Honk, and its subject starts with the code.
- Check the address for typos, then choose Send a new code.
- Honk is invite-only right now. If there is no account or invitation for your address, no email is sent, and to protect your privacy the screen doesn’t say so. See “Invitations” below.
- On the web, enter the code in the browser where you requested it.
- Still nothing? Write to [email protected].
Invitations
How do I get an account?
Honk is invite-only for now. To request an invitation, write to [email protected].
The invitation email names who invited you. Within 14 days, sign in with that address at honk-me.app or in the app, and your account is created with a workspace of its own.
How do I invite my team?
Owners and admins invite people from Members in the web app. An invitation link is valid for 7 days. Your plan sets how many members a workspace can have, pending invitations included.
The Honk scale
Every message has a severity, shown by its horn name and its own icon. The API value is in parentheses.
- Light honk Routine information (
info, orlight). - Beep-beep Something went well, like a finished deploy or backup (
success, orbeep). - Loud honk Worth a look soon (
warning, orloud). - Long honk Something failed. Always at least High priority (
error, orlong). - Blast Something is down. Always at least High priority (
critical, orblast).
The first problem of an episode is pushed right away. Repeats become calm updates, at most one every few minutes, and a jump to a louder level is pushed at once. Routine messages can wait for the digest.
Notifications
Notifications don’t arrive on my iPhone
- In the iPhone’s Settings ▸ Notifications ▸ Honk, check that notifications are allowed.
- In Honk, open Inboxes ▸ Settings ▸ Notifications. It shows whether this iPhone is registered; Honk me sends a test.
- Focus: a Focus can silence Honk. Allow Honk in that Focus, or allow Time Sensitive notifications for urgent messages.
- Quiet hours: during a project’s quiet hours, pushes are held and you get one summary when they end.
- Mute: a muted project or group, or Mute everything in Control Center, still fills the inbox but doesn’t push.
- Digest: messages below your push threshold are collected in a digest instead of being pushed one by one.
- Plan limits: each plan has a daily push limit and a number of devices per person. When the push limit is reached you get one notice, and pushes resume at 00:00 UTC.
How do I get notifications in the browser?
Open Devices in the web app, choose Enable notifications and allow them when the browser asks. To check, pick a device under Test a device and press Honk me. Most current browsers support Web Push; on iPhone, use the Honk app.
Where do I set quiet hours and mute?
Per project, and only for you. On the web, open a project ▸ My notifications for quiet hours and mute. On iPhone, open a project’s inbox ▸ ⋯ ▸ Project settings for quiet hours and push settings. To silence one group for an hour, use Mute for 1 hour on its notification, or Mute 1h in the group.
iPhone and Apple Watch
How do I pair my iPhone with the web app?
If you’re signed in on the web, you can sign in on your iPhone without an email:
- In the web app, open Devices ▸ Pair an iPhone and choose Show pairing code.
- In the iPhone app, choose Scan QR code from the web app, or type the pairing code.
- Confirm in the browser. The code expires after 3 minutes and can’t sign anyone in by itself.
How do I use widgets, Control Center and Live Activities?
- Widgets: touch and hold the Home Screen, tap Edit ▸ Add Widget and choose Honk ▸ Attention, in small, medium or large. The small one shows how many groups need you and the worst severity; medium and large list them, with Mark handled and Mute 1h on open incidents (the iPhone asks you to unlock first).
- Control Center: tap Edit ▸ Add a Control and choose Honk. Mute everything stops your pushes from the workspace for an hour (messages still arrive); Open Attention opens Honk on what needs you.
- Live Activities: in Honk, open Inboxes ▸ Settings ▸ Notifications ▸ Live Activities for incidents (on by default) and pick Start from Long honk or Blast. An incident at that level stays on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, updates while Honk is closed, offers Mark handled and Mute 1h, and shows Recovered when it recovers.
How do I set up the Apple Watch app?
- Install Honk on your watch from the Watch app on your iPhone (My Watch ▸ Available Apps).
- Open Honk on the watch. Your iPhone hands the sign-in over automatically; keep it signed in to Honk and nearby.
- The watch shows what needs your attention and each group’s details. Mark handled is the main button, and Double Tap presses it; Mark read and Mute 1h sit next to it. On the watch, notifications offer Mark handled, Mark read and Mute for 1 hour.
- Complications: one shows how many groups need you; another shows the latest incident and rises in the Smart Stack while something urgent is live. To add one, touch and hold the watch face, tap Edit and choose Honk.
The watch has its own session: signing out on the iPhone doesn’t sign out the watch. You can end it from the list of signed-in devices.
Your account and data
How do I delete my account?
On iPhone: Account (your initials on the Inboxes screen) ▸ Delete account. On the web: Settings ▸ Account ▸ Delete my account. You may be asked to confirm with a new sign-in code, or with your two-step verification code if it’s on.
If you are the only owner of a workspace that has other members, transfer ownership in Members or delete that workspace first. Workspaces in which you are the only member are deleted with your account. The Privacy Policy explains what is kept, and for how long.
How do I export my data?
Owners and admins can export a project’s messages in the web app: open the project ▸ Export ▸ Create export. You get an NDJSON file with up to 100,000 messages, available for 24 hours.
Messages are kept only for the project’s retention period, so export what you need in time. For a copy of your account data, write to [email protected].
What do the plans include?
Every workspace has a plan: Free, Pro or Team. Plans are assigned by the operator of honk-me.app. There are no in-app purchases, and the app is free to download. To change your plan, write to [email protected].
| Limit | Free | Pro | Team |
|---|---|---|---|

Connect your tools
Anything that can send a webhook or an HTTPS request can notify you through Honk: a website or shop plugin, an automation tool, a smart home system, a cron job or your own code. In code, you can also use an SDK:
In the web app, Integrations has ready-to-copy guides for Laravel, Node.js, n8n, Go, Swift, Kotlin/Java and cURL. Honk has accepted an event once it answers 202, and retries with the same Idempotency-Key never create duplicates.
